Moeen Shows His Class With Bat And Ball As England Triumph

Moeen Ali turned in a fine performance with bat and ball to help England overcome Pakistan by four wickets in the fourth ODI at Headingley this evening.

The Worcestershire all-rounder had figures of 2-39 from his 10 overs as Pakistan were restricted to 247-8 in their 50 overs after electing to bat.

Then Moeen ensured England got over the finishing line by batting in sensible fashion before unleashing two sixes to settle the issue with 12 balls to spare.

Moeen bowled his 10 overs in one spell and picked up a wicket in his first and last overs.

Babar Azam (12) cut a delivery into the hands of Liam Plunkett at backward point and then Mohammed Nawaz (3) gave Moeen the charge and was easily stumped by Jonny Bairstow.

England lost early wickets in reply but 69 from Ben Stokes retrieved the situation before Moeen came to the wicket at 175-5 in the 35th over.

He was content to work the ball around during a partnership of 50 with Bairstow (61).

But the 29-year-old ended the contest in double quick time as he struck Azhar Ali for two straight sixes to go with his one boundary.

He ended unbeaten on 45 from 48 deliveries as England triumphed with two overs to spare to take a 4-0 lead in the series.
