Moeen Ali's performance with the ball for England in their ODI win over Australia at Old Trafford has come in for praise from skipper Eoin Morgan and man of the match James Taylor.
Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen returned his best ODI figures – 3-32 from 10 overs – as he and fellow spinner Adil Rashid (2-41) played a major role in England's 93 run success.
Morgan said: "Handing the ball to our spin twins was quite easy. They didn't bowl any bad balls and they took advantage of the conditions.
"I was impressed but not surprised by the way they bowled."
Taylor echoed Morgan's sentiments after scoring 101 off 114 balls.
He said: "Moeen and Rashid did outstandingly. It put a lot of pressure on Australia knowing it was spinning and to bowl like that, and front up, was outstanding."
Moeen dismissed Glenn Maxwell, George Bailey and Mitchell Starc as Australia were bowled out for 207 in reply to England's 300-8.
The 28-year-old will look to repeat his performance on Friday in the next match of the five match series against Yorkshire at Headingley.
