MOEEN NAMED IN T20 WORLD CUP TEAM OF TOURNAMENT AND CLIMBS PCA RANKINGS

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain, Moeen Ali, has been named in the official ICC T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament.

The all-rounder impressed with bat and ball in helping England to reach the semi-finals.

Moeen picked up seven wickets and returned excellent spells of 2-17 (West Indies), 2-18 (Bangladesh), 2-15 (Sri Lanka) and 1-27 (South Africa).

He was England’s most economical bowler in the tournament, conceding only 5.50 runs per over, despite often taking the new ball and bowling in the initial powerplay.

Moeen also made a big impact with the bat when given the opportunity further up the order.

He top scored in the final group game against South Africa (37) batting at number three and also versus New Zealand (51 not out) in the semi-final when in the number four role.

Moeen has also climbed into second spot in the PCA’s Most Valuable Player rankings for England’s T20 players.

The 34-year-old has accumulated 64.32 MVP points and only Buttler (104.94) is ahead of Moeen, with Chris Woakes in third spot (54.83), and Liam Livingstone fourth (51.21).

The PCA Most Valuable Player MVP rankings is a unique algorithm that was originally developed in 2007 by the PCA and the players to identify the most effective players in the game.
