MOEEN NAMED IN ENGLAND SQUAD FOR ICC T20 WORLD CUP IN DUBAI

Moeen Ali is gearing up for his third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament – in Dubai – after being named in England’s 15 strong squad.

The Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain featured in the 2014 competition in Bangladesh and then 2016 in India when England were beaten in the final by the West Indies.

Moeen has appeared in 38 T20Is for England since making his debut in 2014 including three against Pakistan this summer.

He is currently appearing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League before joining up with his England team-mates.

But his Super Kings team-mate, Sam Curran, has been ruled out of the World Cup with a lower back injury.

Curran’s brother, Tom, has been drafted into England’s squad for the T20 World Cup while Surrey’s Reece Topley has been added as a travelling reserve.

England will play two warm-up matches against India and New Zealand before their opening match in the tournament against the West Indies at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS) on October 23.

The top two in both groups go through to the semi-finals with the final held on November 14 at the DICS.

The England players and management not at the IPL arrived at their Muscat base earlier today and will remain in Oman until 16 October before moving to Dubai for the start of the tournament.
