Moeen Ali will play his first T20 International for nearly a year if selected by England for this afternoon's clash with Australia at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.
The Worcestershire all-rounder last played for his country in the short format of the game against India at Edgbaston on September 7 2014.
England have only played one T20 match since that meeting – against New Zealand at Old Trafford in June.
Moeen was then back playing for Worcestershire in preparation for the Ashes series.
In total he has made seven T20I appearances since featuring in two of them against the West Indies on his debut tour for England in February 2014.
England will play a further five T20Is this winter against Pakistan (three) and South Africa (two) as part of their preparations for the ICC Twenty20 tournament in India.
But Moeen and Co first have to tackle five ODIs against Australia next month after today's one-off T20I.
The schedule for the forthcoming matches against Australia is:
Today 31 August IT20 vs Australia, SSE SWALEC, Cardiff
Thursday 3 September ODI vs Australia, Ageas Bowl, Southampton
Saturday 5 September ODI vs Australia, Lord’s
Tuesday 8 September ODI vs Australia, Emirates Old Trafford
Friday 11 September ODI vs Australia, Headingley
Sunday 13 September ODI vs Australia, Emirates Old Trafford
