Moeen Ali was in good form with the bat on the second and final day of England’s warm-up match with a Sri Lankan Board President’s X1 in Colombo.
The Worcestershire all-rounder came in at number seven and hit a fluent 60 from just 75 deliveries.
He struck seven fours and one six and was second highest scorer behind skipper Joe Root who retired out after making exactly 100.
Moeen was eventually caught behind against the bowling of off-spinner Nishan Peiris who ended with three wickets.
England closed proceedings on 365-7 from 90 overs in the reply to the Board X1’s 392-9.
Moeen had also looked in decent fettle with the ball on the opening day when returning 2-64 from 17 overs.
England have one more two-day warm-up game against the President’s X1 starting tomorrow (Thursday) before the first of three Tests against the Sri Lankans.
