Moeen Ali believes Worcestershire's performances in Division One of the LV = County Championship during 2015 have "been better" than in previous seasons in the top flight.
The England all-rounder has been impressed with the way skipper Daryl Mitchell and his side have battled to try and retain their Division One status following last summer's promotion.
Worcestershire can now focus fully on red ball cricket and the final four LV = CC games of the campaign starting with Friday's match versus Somerset at Taunton.
Moeen, currently preparing for tomorrow's final Ashes Test at The Ovall, said: "There is some massive Championship cricket to come.
"That is the most important thing for us this year now and we will have to play well. We're third from bottom at the moment so we have got a chance.
"We've played some really good cricket and hopefully we can get a couple of wins and get over the line.
"There have been some important periods when we haven't quite done it so if we can get over the line then it will be brilliant.
"We've been better this year than we have been previously in Division One.
"It's really big for us and if we can stay up, hopefully we can take things a bit further in years to come."
