Worcestershire Rapids captain Moeen Ali is celebrating winning the Indian Premier League after helping Chennai Super Kings to victory by –27 runs over Kolkata Knight Riders in the final in Dubai.
Moeen played a significant role with the bat in helping his side amass a formidable 192-3 in their 20 overs.
He smashed an unbeaten 37 off just 20 balls to give excellent support to Faf du Plessis, who top-scored with 86.
It was the sort of big-hitting that Rapids supporters are used to watching from Moeen during his appearances in the Blast.
He will now join up with the England squad for the ICC T20 World Cup.
Moeen came to the wicket at 124-3 and added 68 in just 6.3 overs with du Plessis.
Shivam Mavi was struck for two sixes in an over by Moeen over deep mid-wicket and then straight down the ground.
Moeen collected a third six with another big straight hit off Varun Chakravarthy.
In reply, Kolkata reached 91-0 in the 11th over but then collapsed to 132-8 and eventually closed on 165-9.
