Moeen Gives Seal Of Approval To Progress Made By Worcs Players

Moeen Ali has ended his current spell with Worcestershire but not before complimenting the team on the way they are maturing and making progress.

The all-rounder has played in five Royal London One-Day Cup matches and helped the Rapids to qualify for the knockout stages and a home tie.

Moeen will spend the majority of the rest of the summer on England duty via the ICC Trophy and series against South Africa and the West Indies.

But he conveyed his feelings to Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes at the way the County are making strides forward after Sunday's crucial win over Durham Jets at New Road.

Rhodes said: "I had a chat with Mo at the end of the game, with him going away. He was delighted with the way the guys are progressing.

"I had a bit more correspondence by text with him late that same evening and he was very complimentary about some of the fighting qualities and the way the lads are maturing.

"From our England player, that's nice for him to recognise that of the boys and how they are doing.

"He is always popular in our dressing room, enjoys playing for Worcestershire, and we welcome him back anytime."

Moeen will be part of a training camp with the focus on fielding before England's ODI Series with the Proteas ahead of the ICC Trophy.

Rhodes said: "We all wish him well. He is a bloke when we are watching him play, we all are desperate for him to bat and bowl well and contribute and carry on what he has been doing as a regular member in that England side for two or three years now."
