MOEEN ENDS WITH A FLOURISH IN T10 LEAGUE

MOEEN ENDS WITH A FLOURISH IN T10 LEAGUE

Moeen Ali led Team Abu Dhabi to victory over Worcestershire team-mates Ross Whiteley and Pat Brown’s side, Karnataka Tuskers – but the trio have missed out on qualification for the knockout stages.

Team Abu Dhabi captain Moeen Ali hit a quickfire 35 from 21 balls and picked up a wicket in Team Abu Dhabi’s 34 run success in the final ‘Super League’ encounter.

But the game was already consigned to being a dead rubber with neither side able to cement a place amongst the top four who will contest the remainder of the tournament.

Moeen showed a liking for spinner Ahmed Raza in smashing him for three successive sixes – two straight down the ground and one over mid wicket.

But in the same over he was run out at the non-striker’s end when a drive from Luke Wright (57 not out off 30 balls) was picked up by Ahmed.

He hit the stumps before Moeen, backing up, regained his ground. Team Abu Dhabi totalled 128-2 with Brown bowling two overs for 30 runs.

Moeen then struck with the ball as Tuskers captain Hashim Amla (18) was caught at long on in an over costing 12 runs.

Whiteley, having made six off seven balls, was yorked by Marchant de Lange as the Tuskers closed on 94-6.

Team Abu Dhabi finished sixth in the eight-team table with six points from six matches and the Tuskers occupied bottom spot with three points.
