Worcestershire Rapids Head Coach Kevin Sharp has confirmed that Moeen Ali will be available to face Warwickshire in Thursday’s vital Royal London One-Day Cup North Group clash under lights at Edgbaston in a match being shown live on Sky Sports.
Moeen will be part of the England squad for the forthcoming ODI against Scotland on June 10 and the five match ODI series versus Australia later this month.
But the 30-year-old can play against his former club in a match which will decide who finishes top of the North Group – with the winners guaranteed a home semi-final.
Sharp said: “Moeen is available on Thursday. He will join up with the England squad the following day.”
Moeen returned career best List A bowling figures of 4-33 in last Friday’s clash with Notts Outlaws at Trent Bridge.
Callum Ferguson did not field against Northamptonshire Steelbacks as a precautionary measure after making a superb 159 not out to add to his 192 against Leicestershire Foxes.
Sharp said: “Callum had just a little bit of a strain in the quad but hopefully he will be okay. He has been icing it this (Sunday) afternoon.
“He has batted a long time the last few days. It was a bit of a precautionary thing really. We didn’t want him to be in any trouble for Thursday.”
Paceman Josh Tongue was unavailable against the Steelbacks.
Sharp said: “He has got a slight problem with a foot injury. We are not sure of the extent of that yet. Fingers crossed that it won’t be too long.
“But we are just awaiting some results from a scan he had the other day.”
*Warwickshire paceman Chris Woakes will not be available to face the Rapids due to the injury picked up in the Headingley Test win over Pakistan.
