Moeen Ali and Pat Brown have been included in England’s squads for the ODIs and T20Is against South Africa in the New Year.
The Worcestershire duo were part of the squads announced today by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
It is a first ODI call-up for Brown who last month made his T20I debut in the five game series versus New Zealand when he played in four of the matches.
He is one of four uncapped players in the ODI squad alongside Tom Banton, Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson.
Moeen returns to international cricket for the first time since the opening Test of the Ashes series against Australia.
He was part of England’s World Cup winning squad last summer in 50 over cricket.
England will play three ODIs – the first of them in Cape Town on February 4 – and three T20Is against the Proteas.
England National Selector, Ed Smith, said: “These two squads were selected with an eye on the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2020.
“In the T20s, a number of players who were rested for the successful 3-2 victory in New Zealand return to the squad: Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Jason Roy.
“We want to expand the pool of players who can perform successfully for England, while also helping the team to peak for major tournaments.”
