Moeen And England Players Made Available For T20 Blast Window

Moeen And England Players Made Available For T20 Blast Window

Worcestershire Rapids have received a NatWest T20 Blast boost with Moeen Ali and the other England players made available by the ECB for a four-day window in the competition later this month.

The all-rounder and his international team-mates will have the opportunity to participate in the T20 Blast during the June 15 to June 18 period.

The Rapids are involved in back to back T20 Blast matches during that window.

They will travel to take on Leicestershire Foxes at the Fischer County Ground on Friday, June 17.

Then the following day skipper Daryl Mitchell and his players will entertain Nottinghamshire Outlaws – who can include Alex Hales in their line-up – at New Road.

Moeen was also given permission to play in last Friday's clash with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at New Road and was their most economical bowler with 1-16 from his four overs.

Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "It is a big bonus having Mo available. It is a sensible thing to do as well by the ECB.

"They want our Blast tournament to have good exposure and become a really good domestic tournament.

"It's good when you've got England players playing, just as in the Carribean Premier League, Big Bash, IPL, a lot of the home international players play in those tournaments."

England allowed their players to be released to feature in a similar window 12 month ago.

This year's opportunity is squeezed in between the end of the three match Test series with Sri Lanka and the start of the five game ODI series.
