Worcestershire CCC Academy experienced mixed fortunes in two T20 matches at Hawkesbury CC in Gloucestershire.
They were beaten by eight wickets by Gloucestershire in their opening ECB Under-18 County Competition T20 Group Two match.
But the Academy bounced back with a 36-run success over Cricket Wales in a friendly at the same venue later in the day.
They are playing six T20 double headers this summer which will be a mixture of ECB T20 and friendly matches.
Against Gloucestershire, opener Charlie Sharland (21) Oliver Halion (13) and Callum Bennett (10) were the only players into double figures as Worcestershire were bowled out for 85 in 18.3 overs after choosing to bat.
Drew Malek and Gohar Nisar picked up an early wicket apiece to reduce Gloucestershire to 4-2 but the home side reached their target in 11.1 overs without the loss of any more wickets.
Nisar finished with the fine figures of 4-0-15-1 and Malek 2-0-14-1.
Bilal Arshad and Haris Ajaz shared seven wickets as Worcestershire bowled out Cricket Wales for 88 in 16.4 overs.
They were set a 125 target by Worcestershire after Halion (35) and captain Joe Stanley (27) put on 48 for the fourth wicket to rescue their side from 38-3.
Suhayl Iqbal gave the innings late momentum with an unbeaten 18 off 10 balls and he was responsible for 17 coming from the final over.
Stanley then picked up two early wickets and then medium pacer Arshad and spinner Ajaz worked their way through the rest of the batting.
Arshad returned excellent figures of 4-0-20-4 and Ajaz, who picked up the vital wicket of opener Zac Le Richie (41), ended with 3.4-1-16-3.
