Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell was amongst the wickets and runs at Lord's when he represented the MCC against Hertfordshire in a match to mark the 200th anniversary of the first fixture staged on the ground.
Mitchell continued the outstanding form he has shown in LV = County Championship and NatWest T20 Blast cricket for the county this summer.
Hertfordshire won the toss and elected to bat and made 198-8 in their 40 overs with Mitchell dismissing their main two contributors.
He sent back Jamie Southgate for 56 containing nine fours and for good measure dismissed Ben Frazer who had helped Southgate in a fifth wicket stand of 86.
Mitchell finished with 2-27 from his four overs.
Then Mitchell featured in an opening stand of 104 in 19.3 overs with Jonathan Wileman.
Wileman was first out for 67 but Mitchell went onto make a rapid 64 from 58 balls with two sixes and seven fours and he reached his half century with a six into the Mound Stand.
He figured in a partnership of 65 in just six overs with West Indian legend Brian Lara before being second out at 169.
Lara went onto make 56 from 36 balls with two sixes and eight fours as MCC won with 7.3 overs to spare.
It was on June 22, 1814 the MCC faced Hertfordshire in the first game at the home of cricket.
The occasion was marked with members of the general public allowed into the Lord's pavilion and also to sit on the outfield for the first time since 1987.
