Mitchell Moves Ahead Of Graveney In List Of County’s Century-Makers

Daryl Mitchell has climbed above Worcestershire legend Tom Graveney in the all-time list of the County’s century-makers.

The opening batsman completed his 28th first class hundred for Worcestershire during last week’s win over Gloucestershire at New Road.

It was Mitchell’s fifth of the current campaign and lifted him ahead of Graveney who served the Club with such distinction during the 1960s after his move from Gloucestershire.

Mitchell is now joint 12th in Worcestershire list of century-makers alongside two other former captains in Phil Neale and HK ‘Harry’ Foster.

But the 33-year-old, who has three more years to run of his current contract, could move past several other distinguished names in Worcestershire’s proud history in the near future.

Ron Headley and Tom Moody (32), Basil D’Oliveira and Alan Ormrod (31) and Vikram Solanki (29) are all realistic targets for Mitchell to surpass during the next 12 months if he maintains his current levels of form.

His tally of five centuries this season equals his prevous best achieved in 2014.

Worcestershire’s leading century-makers are:

106 – GA Hick

72 – GM Turner

70 – D Kenyon

44 – HHIH Gibbons

43 – TS Curtis

38 – FL Bowley

32 – RGA Headley

32 – TM Moody

31 – JA Ormrod

31 – BL D’Oliveira

29 – VS Solanki

28 – HK Foster

28 – PA Neale

28 – DKH MITCHELL

27 – TW Graveney

25 – LF Outschoorn
