Mitchell Hits Century And Kohler-Cadmore Shines For County Against Derbyshire

Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell scored a century and there was another indication of the potential of Tom Kohler-Cadmore on the opening day of the two-day friendly with Derbyshire in Abu Dhabi.

Opener Mitchell, who will be playing his 10th season of first team cricket in 2014, elected to bat after winning the toss and his side reached 306-3 from 90 overs by the close of play.

The 30-year-old, who has signed a new three year contract, and Matt Pardoe played solidly during the morning session to take the county through to 70-0 by lunch.

The partnership was extended to 106 before Pardoe was bowled via the inside edge by Clare for 43.

Kohler-Cadmore looked in good form from the start of his innings and struck three of his first six deliveries for boundaries and added exactly 100 runs with Mitchell.

At that juncture Mitchell retired on reaching his century with the total on 206.

The second new ball was taken after 63 overs to enhance the practice and brought about the dismissal of Kohler-Cadmore who made an excellent 61 off 92 balls.

He was caught at short mid wicket off Footitt after hitting seven fours and four sixes.

Tom Fell and Alexei Kervezee also forged a good partnership before the former was run out near the close when looking for a quick single on the off side, for 36, with the total on 293.

Kervezee had moved onto 42 not out from 83 balls by stumps.

Tomorrow it will be the turn of the Worcestershire bowlers to be put through their paces on the final day's play of the tour before flying home on Saturday.
