Skipper Daryl Mitchell says the future is bright and is hoping Worcestershire will learn from "missed opportunities" and bounce back strongly in Division Two of the LV = County Championship next season.
Mitchell felt the County allowed "at least three games" to slip from their grasp as they finished just 12 points behind third from bottom Hampshire.
But the 31-year-old is taking a lot of positives from the 2015 campaign.
Mitchell said: "Getting relegated was bitterly disappointing and I think we missed some golden opportunities to win some matches.
"But I believe the future is bright. Tom Fell’s run tally has been fantastic, while Joe Clarke has burst on to the scene as has Ross Whiteley. Tom Kohler-Cadmore has also emerged in red ball cricket.
"Looking back, there were at least three games which we had massive opportunities to win but we slipped to defeat.
"At Sussex, we were chasing just over 200 runs to win and were 60-0 before collapsing to lose.
"At home to Durham we let them back into things and that was a real blow when we lost.
"Away at Nottinghamshire we were 200-3, chasing 300 runs to win but we suffered a collapse and lost the game.
"It is disappointing to go down to Division Two but there are a lot of positives we can take from the season.
"We have played some fantastic cricket at times and competed in 95% of the matches.
"Unfortunately, critical moments have not gone our way and, hopefully, the lads can learn from that and jump on those opportunities next season."
Mitchell has now completed five full seasons as captain at New Road since taking over from Vikram Solanki at the tail-end of 2010.
He said:"I have enjoyed skippering the club – I feel very proud and honoured to be the captain – and I hope I can carry on the duty next season."
