Mitchell And Gidman Amongst Runs As County Extend Lead To 142

Worcestershire extend their first innings lead close to the 150 mark on the final day of the first class fixture with Oxford MCCU at the Parks.

The county were looking to make up for lost time after yesterday's wash-out following a successful opening day in which they bowled the students out for 124 and replied with 155-2.

Skipper Daryl Mitchell was unbeaten on 51 overnight with Alex Gidman four not out.

The pair extended their third wicket stand to 40 before Mitchell fell to Jack McIver for 64, made off 119 balls with nine fours.

Alexei Kervezee (7) was dismissed by the same bowler to leave Worcestershire on 199-4.

Gidman made 43 off 79 deliveries with one six and four fours and added 46 for the fifth wicket with Tom Kohler-Cadmore before he was bowled by Malcolm Lake.

Lake also accounted for keeper Ben Cox for 15 to leave Kohler-Cadmore unbeaten on 25 at lunch with the Worcestershire total on 266-6 from 66 overs.

The county had added 111 runs from 30.5 overs in the morning sesion for the loss of four wickets and their overall lead stood at 142.

Kohler-Cadmore and Brett D'Oliveira pushed the score past the 300 mark in the 71st over when play resumed.
