worcestershire wicket-keeper batsman alex milton is flying out to south africa today to start a second spell with cape town based side claremont cc.
the former malvern college pupil will also spend part of the two month spell honing his skills at the gary kirsten cricket academy.
milton is looking to use the experience to build on his first concerted spell of first team cricket at New Road.
he scored a maiden century on his specsavers county championship debut against visiting somerset and then played in the final six specsavers county championship matches of the season as well as being a member of the rapids squad for vitality blast finals day.
the 22-year-old, who captained cardiff mccu during the early part of the summer, said: “i have learnt a lot about my batting and technique and where i need to improve.
“getting away this winter for a few months, and then coming back and training with worcestershire, will really help because i now have a clearer plan of what i need to work on.
“it is the second time i’ve been to claremont. when i first came out of school four years ago, i went there and am going back for a couple of months to enable me to keep playing outside and on proper wickets outside rather than indoors.
“i will also be working with the gary kirsten academy which i feel is going to help a lot. it is going to give me a bit more structure to my week while i’m away.
“i’m going to be having one to one coaching. i had a look on their website and they are all very experienced coaches.
“that will be going on throughout the week and then i will be playing my club cricket (for claremont) on the saturdays.”
