MCKENZIE PRAISE FOR MENTOR DAVIES AHEAD OF LIONS LINK-UP

Worcestershire CCC Head Of Science and Medicine, Ben Davies has flown out with England Lions this evening after being appointed physiotherapist for the tour of Australia.

He has linked up with Head Coach Richard Dawson, the support staff and players for the tour which runs through until the first week of March.

The Lions will play five one-day games and three four-day matches during the seven week trip Down Under.

Worcestershire Second Eleven physio, Alistair McKenzie, and Strengthening and Conditioning Coach, Ross Dewar, will take up the reins while Davies is on international duty.

McKenzie is quick to praise the help and support he has received from Davies during his 12 months at the club.

He said: “I couldn’t be happier for Ben in getting this opportunity. He deserves it and is one of the best on the county circuit.

“He has been excellent mentor. He has always opened opportunities for me beyond just cricket to expand my knowledge and experience.

“It’s nice to know he feels confident enough in me to step up to the plate whilst he is away.

“He has always pushed for me to gain as many opportunities as I can when they come around and the club have also been great.

“I’m starting my Masters degree in Sports Medicine as well and he has been helping with that to expand my knowledge.”
