Day 3 – Lunch Report
England national selector James Whitaker was present at the start of the third day when Worcestershire resumed on 41-0 from 17 overs – a lead of 36.
Matt Pardoe produced the first boundary of the morning when he off drove Doug Bollinger to the ropes.
The in form skipper Daryl Mitchell cover drove Mitchell Claydon for four to bring up the 50 in the 21st over.
Bollinger made a breakthrough for Kent when Mitchell (27) was caught behind by wicket-keeper Sam Billings to end a solid partnership of 53 with Pardoe.
The next delivery accounted for Moeen Ali (0) who was adjudged lbw to a Bollinger delivery.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore confidently blocked the hat-trick ball and then pulled Bollinger for four.
Malvern College's record run scorer swept James Tredwell to the boundary and straight drove the England spinner for another four.
He moved to 18 before being caught at mid-wicket by Brendan Nash off Tredwell for 18 with the total on 76 in the 29th over.
Alexei Kervezee was looking to build on his impressive first innings half century and he got off the mark with a cover drive for four at Tredwell's expense.
The Dutch international also collected successive boundaries off Robbie Joseph who conceded a no ball to bring up the 100 in the 38th over.
Pardoe was solid in defence but also produced some impressive attacking strokes which brought him boundaries off Joseph and Tredwell.
He had advanced to 43, helping the lead to push past the 100 mark, but then was caught and bowled by Bollinger in his first over back in the attack at 110-4.
Kervezee (21) was bowled by Claydon in the last over before lunch with Worcestershire 113-5 off 46 overs at the interval – a lead of 108.
