Worcestershire batter Kashif Ali will return to first class action next week for the first time since his successful 2024 campaign in the County Championship at Visit Worcestershire New Road.
The 26-year-old is again playing in the nine team President’s Trophy in Pakistan for Ghani Glass.
Kashif finished as Worcestershire’s leading scorer in their successful bid to cement a spot in Division One.
He filled the number three role left vacant by Azhar Ali and totalled nearly 800 runs at an average of 42.61 with two hundreds and five fifties in his first full year of red ball cricket.
Kashif played three matches for Ghani Glass last winter but is now facing a schedule of eight group games in an eight-week period until the end of February.
He said: “Last winter’s experience was invaluable and stood me in good stead for when I went back to Worcestershire.
“We play eight successive rounds this winter but I’m looking to learn as much as I can from the experience, not only on the batting front but also with my leg spin which I want to develop.”
Ghani Glass launch their group programme on January 14 with a four-dayer against Eshaal in Karachi with the top two going through to the final although that does not take place until April.
Kashif has been playing club cricket in Pakistan during the first half of the winter.
