Leach Top Of Batting And Bowling Averages For North Canberra

Worcestershire all-rounder Joe Leach is top of the batting and batting averages for North Canberra Gungahlin.

Leach leads the way for the Northies in the one and two-day matches played by the Northies in the Australian Capital Territory first grade this winter.

The 24-year-old has scored 433 runs in 12 innings at an average of 36.08.

Leach's tally includes four half centuries against Eastlake (64 and 72), Queanbeyan District (63) and Weston Creek Molonglo (58).

His overall scores are 30, 5, 41, 64, 40, 21, 19, 72, 63, 5, 15 and 58.

Leach is also leading the bowling averages with 25 wickets at an average of 18.96 runs apiece,a strike rate of 30.84 and an economy rate of 3.69 runs per over.

His best return of the campaign was 5-31 against Ginninderra.

Leach's efforts were rewarded when he was called up to bowl in the nets against England during their build-up to the current Tri-Series.

He earned glowing praise from England assistant coach Paul Farbrace.

Leach helped the Northies win the Konica Minolta Regional Twenty20 Cup in December – their first trophy for a decade.

His side also reached the semi-finals of the ACT RSM Bird Cameron Gallop Cup.
