Club Captain Joe Leach hit a half-century and picked up three wickets, but Worcestershire Seconds went down by five wickets to Somerset Seconds in a SET20 match at Taunton Vale.
Leach struck six sixes, and three fours in his 62 off 34 balls as Worcestershire totalled 153-9 after Seconds captain Josh Dell opted to bat.
He then came on first change and ended with 3-23 from his four overs, but 71 from opener Will Smeed helped Somerset to victory with five balls to spare.
Leach went to the wicket at 45-3 after the dismissal of Jacques Banton (9), caught at short fine leg, Tom Fell (10), who holed out to mid-wicket, and Alex Milton (0), who tried to cut and edged through to the keeper.
It became 58-4 after Dell was bowled for 30 off 20 balls, but then Leach dominated a fifth-wicket stand of 71 in 7.2 overs with Oli Walker (13).
He was eventually bowled after aiming a blow over mid-wicket off Charlie Sharland, and there was a late clatter of wickets with four falling for 12 runs.
Ned Leonard finished with 3-14 from four overs.
Leach made the first breakthrough with 43 on the board when Mitchell Stanley caught Greg Willows (15) at short third man.
Smeed added a further 47 for the third wicket with Tom Lammonby (21) before he was lbw to Leach at 121-3 in the 15th over.
Stanley, who shared the new ball, returned excellent figures of 4-0-21-1 and accounted for Lammonby, who was caught behind, but the home side reached their target in 19.1 overs.
Josh Baker – 1-15 in three overs – was the other wicket-taker when he held onto a return catch from George Bartlett (15).
