Leach Helps Northies To Win T20 Final Down Under Against County Team-Mate Barnard

Worcestershire all-rounder Joe Leach was part of the North Canberra Gungahlin side which today won the Australian Capital Territory Konica Minolta T20 Cup.

The Northies overcame Queanbeyan District – for whom Leach's county colleague Ed Barnard was included in the side – by six wickets in the final at Manuka.

Queanbeyan won the toss and were bowled out for 112 with Barnard, batting at number three, making 16 off 16 balls and Leach claiming the final wicket.

North Canberra then reached 113-4 in reply, Barnard bowling 3.2 overs for 22 runs, with Scottish international George Munsey hitting 60 off 42 balls for the victors to follow up his half century in the semi-finals.

Leach was out for a duck in the final but had played a major role in his side reaching finals day with a string of consistent performances.

He tweeted: "Great work from the Northies boys to win the T20."

In the semi-finals earlier in the day, North Canberra had triumphed against Western District, scoring 157-4 and restricting their opponents to 111 all out.

Queanbeyan had booked their spot in the final to set up the Leach-Barnard showdown by defeating Weston Creek Molongo, scoring 194 to 135-9 in reply.

Barnard hit 23 off 18 balls and bowled two overs for 13 runs after taking the new ball.
