Worcestershire have closed the gap on Specsavers County Championship leaders Nottinghamshire to 15 points after the superb eight wicket win at Trent Bridge.
Skipper Joe Leach’s team shattered Nottinghamshire’s unbeaten record in the competition this season to give their own chances of being promoted a significant boost.
They are now 36 points clear of joint third placed teams Northamptonshire and Sussex who both have one match in hand.
Worcestershire have already surpassed last season’s win tally of six games.
They have actually triumphed in 13 of their last 23 Championship matches since a five game run without a victory at the start of last season.
Worcestershire are also only 11 points short of the 203 point they acquired from 16 matches last season when finishing in third spot.
Their tally of 37 batting bonus points and 33 bowling bonus points has only been bettered in Division Two this season by Nottinghamshire.
