Worcestershire Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes says Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Brett D'Oliveira are in contention to open alongside Daryl Mitchell ahead of the County Championship opener with Kent at New Road on April 10.
Kohler-Cadmore and D'Oliveira have both been included in the squad for the three-day first class match with Oxford MCCU at The Parks due to get underway today.
D'Oliveira opened for the final four matches of last season in place of the since departed Richard Oliver and made a series of useful contributions.
He earned his promotion after some impressive performances going in first for the second eleven.
Kohler-Cadmore has also opened during his career but impressed in the number five slot at the end of last season, scoring 89 at Durham and 130 not out at home to Middlesex.
Rhodes said: "Tom is a definite possibility. It’s not guaranteed though. He also played very well batting at number five towards the end of last season.
“One of the things you have to weigh up is will he do better opening the batting or is he accustomed, at this stage, to the number five spot?
"Those are things we will definitely discuss as we get into those selection meetings before the Kent match.
“The other one is Brett D'Oliveira who I felt did particularly well towards the end of last season.
"He was very solid with Daryl at the top of the order and is another one who will come into contention for the opening spot alongside Daryl."
