Joe Clarke is looking to add consistency and build on his first NatWest T20 Blast half century when Worcestershire Rapids take on Lancashire Lightning in this evening clash at Emirates Old Trafford.
Clarke made his only appearance in the competition last season in the quarter-final against Hampshire and did not get a chance to bat in that game.
But he has been a regular member of the T20 Blast team this summer, batting predominantly at number three, and scored a fine 69 off 48 balls against Notts Outlaws in last Saturday's setback at New Road.
Clarke, who also notched a composed 63 in yesterday's Specsavers County Championship clash with Derbyshire, said: "I've been hoping for some T20 runs since the start of the tournament really.
"Batting at three you've got a bit of a responsibility to be consistent in getting scores and I haven't really done that so far.
"It was nice to get a score – but it is never nice getting a score when you are on the losing side.
"It was quite tough to get going. Moeen (Ali) was just telling me to get myself in and get the ones. He was striking it really well.
"That was the situation at the start of my innings and just to get Mo on strike was key and when Mo went I was just trying to bat through and get a big score.
"I felt I missed out on a few and could have got 10-15 more and 10-15 more for the side which would have been good but they bowled really well."
Clarke added: "How have I found playing T20? It is good, a really good atmosphere, really good to be involved with.
"But the same time, you've got to be nailing your skills and being consistent with your scores as a batter and taking wickets as a bowler and not going for runs.
"There is a lot of pressure around T20. We are a good side at it and hopefully we can get through to the quarter-finals."
