Worcestershire all-rounder Joe Leach will be the guest speaker when Worcestershire Cricket Society stage their opening winter cricket evening of 2023 in the Graeme Hick Pavilion at New Road next Tuesday (January 10).
Leach has been a key member of Worcestershire’s attack for the past decade and claimed his 400th first class wicket on the opening day of the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Sussex at Hove in September.
He began his career as a batter who bowled a bit and scored his maiden century against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham in 2013.
But he has gradually evolved into the leader of the Worcestershire attack, enjoying one golden spell of 59, 65 and 69 first class wickets in successive seasons.
Former Club Captain Leach’s 400th wicket came in his 114th match and 10 years after his first scalp, for Leeds Bradford UCCE against Surrey at The Oval.
Worcestershire Cricket Society Secretary, Mike Hitchings, said: “Joe is a popular figure amongst members and spectators at New Road and a big thank you to him for agreeing to be our guest speaker for January.”
Non Cricket Society members can attend on January 10 for an admission charge of £5.
