Worcestershire wicket-keeper Joe Clarke has revealed his cricketing idols and says Australian legend Adam Gilchrist is his all-time hero behind the stumps.
Clarke admits he grew up "wanting to be Gilchrist" who enjoyed a remarkable career with his country in Test and One-Day International cricket.
He scored 5,570 Test runs at an average of 47.60 and was responsible for 416 dismissals and also scored 9,619 ODI runs at nearly 36 with 472 victims.
Clarke, who was Worcestershire's leading runscorer in the Second Eleven Championship in 2014, said: "I grew up wanting to be Adam Gilchrist and he has been my wicket-keeping idol since I started playing cricket.
"His pure keeping ability was incredible but also his presence as a wicketkeeper in such a strong Australian side was also something that I admired so much."
Engand Under-19 keeper Clarke, who is currently playing Down Under for South Perth CC, is also a big fan of current Essex skipper and former England keeper James Foster.
Fellow Worcestershire wicket-keeper Ben Cox is also a massive admirer of Foster who was happy to offer advice and words of wisdom when the pair spoke after the LV = County Championship game at New Road last season.
Clarke said: "I've always admired James Foster and his keeping ability is outstanding. Some of the stuff he can do is incredible."
