Jake Libby says it will be a special feeling when Worcestershire return to action at New Road on Friday for the Vitality County Championship encounter with Nottinghamshire.
Red ball vice-captain Libby and his team-mates are relishing being back playing at their headquarters after the opening two home games against Durham and Somerset were played at Kidderminster because of the floods.
Libby is looking forward to being reunited with members as Worcestershire aim for their first win since being promoted from Division One.
He said: “It’s fantastic for the boys to be back playing at New Road and I’m sure Friday morning will be so special.
“Obviously you can’t do anything about the elements and this winter across the country, not just in this area, has had constant downpours.
“It was disappointing for everyone not to start life back in Division One of the County Championship at our home.
“Make no mistake all credit to everyone at Kidderminster for putting on the first two home games and there was a tremendous effort by all the staff at Worcestershire.
“But now we are back at New Road and will be aiming to put on a show for our supporters before we turn our attention to the Blast.
“It will be a special feeling for each and everyone of us when we walk down the pavilion steps onto the outfield.
“We also look forward to seeing and speaking with our members and there is a special bond.”
Libby said: “We came up a top class side in Surrey in our last game even though there were moments in the game where we had opportunities.
“But overall we’ve been very competitive in the matches to date.”
