Josh Dell has been included in the Worcestershire Rapids squad for tomorrow’s final Royal London One-Day Cup North Group match against Derbyshire Falcons at the 3aaa County Ground.
The batsman is part of a 14 strong squad announced by First Team Coach Alex Gidman.
Dell impressed when carrying his bat for a superb 131 not out in the Second Eleven Championship match with Lancashire at Northern CC earlier in the week.
He also hit an unbeaten 63 in the three-day encounter with Cambridge University at Fenners last month.
Gidman welcomes the competition for places and George Rhodes seized his opportunity with a century yesterday in the win over Yorkshire Vikings after Daryl Mitchell was ruled out with a back injury.
He said: “What we’ve been craving is some competition which is really healthy for any sports team.
“There have been some other players who have been playing really well in the second team. Josh Dell scored a fantastic hundred up at Lancashire this week for our Seconds and that’s what we need.”
Dell, Josh Tongue and Mitchell are added to the 11 players who were part of the 150 run win.
