Worcestershire Academy launched their Royal London Under-17 County Cup campaign in fine style with a 145 run victory over their Somerset counterparts at RGS Worcester.
Century-maker Dan Holland and Ollie Walker shared a 200 plus partnership and then skipper Pete Clark picked up five wickets.
Worcestershire were put into bat and amassed 308-4 in their 50 overs.
Holland and Walker came together at 55-3 and added 201 for the fourth wicket.
Walker made 87 off 76 balls with one six and eight fours before he was run out.
Holland went onto make an unbeaten 133 off 148 deliveries with three sixes and 13 fours and Ed Bragg ended 24 not out.
When Somerset replied, George Marshall (6-0-21-2) set the tone for the home side by removing both openers and then Clark destroyed the middle and lower order.
He ended with the superb figures of 10-0-37-5 before Josh Baker (4.3-0-15-2) collected the final two wickets.
The Academy return to action in the competition on Tuesday when they travel to take on Gloucestershire at Rockhampton.
