Travis Head will become the 24th Australian cricketer to play County Championship cricket for Worcestershire when he links up with the County for the start of the 2018 season.
The 24-year-old will follow Herbert Hopkins, Tom Moody and Mark Harrity in being the fourth South Australia to represent Worcestershire in the Championship.
Worcestershire have had especially strong links with Australian players since the turn of the century with 16 from Down Under wearing the club’s colours in the past 18 years if you include Head.
They include the likes of Glenn McGrath, Andy Bichel, Matt Mason, Phil Jaques, Doug Bollinger and the late Phil Hughes.
Last season John Hastings and Nathan Lyon helped Worcestershire to gain promotion in the Championship.
Now the link with Down Under is continuing via returning fast bowler Steve Magoffin who first played for Worcestershire in 2008.
He is one of three Queenslanders to play Championship cricket for Worcestershire after Bichel and Ashley Noffke.
The list below only refers to Australians who have played Championship cricket for Worcestershire and NOT players like current Australian captain Steve Smith who only played T20.
