kevin sharp expects New Road to be “rocking” on sunday when worcestershire rapids stage their second successive home semi-final in the royal london one-day cup.
the rapids will meet kent spitfires after again topping the north group via chalking up six wins in their eight games.
head coach sharp says the rapids have still to produce the “complete performance” on their way to the last four.
but he believes the resilience and belief amongst the squad – and everyone playing their part at different stages – have been key factors in this year’s competition.
sharp said: “it is tremendous for the club that we have got another semi-final to look forward to and the ground will be rocking on sunday.
“i just hope we have a nice day – and we will be raring to go.
“we have played some great cricket and there have been times when we’ve not quite been at our best as well.
“we are still searching for the complete performance but there is so much resilience and belief in this team.
“that is just great to see, the fact that even though we probably haven’t had the full complete performance we can still get over the line and are in sunday’s semi-final – and there are a lot of teams who aren’t.”
sharp added: “everyone has chipped in during the competition. the one thing we do stress is that each individual takes responsibility for his own game and ultimately contributes to the team – and that’s what they have been doing.
“those teams that win will have a selection of guys who do the business and it might not always be the same one.”
worcestershire will be looking to make amends for last summer’s semi-final setback against surrey.
sharp said: “last year was a bit unfortunate. it happens. we weren’t at our best. surrey outplayed us on that day and this is another chance and we will look forward to it.”
