Haynes And Kinder Play Key Roles In Under-17S Double Triumph

Worcestershire Under-17s gained a double success over Worcestershire Academy in a T20 double header at Bromsgrove Cricket Club.

But it was a Worcestershire Academy player in 15-year-old Jack Haynes who played a significant role with the bat for the Under-17s in their two victories.

There were also two frugal spells from James Kinder which helped the Under-17s come out on top.

In match one, Haynes opened the innings and scored 63 off 43 balls with two sixes and seven fours as the Under-17s triumphed by 10 runs.

An unbeaten 27 from Billy Cox helped the Under-17s to close their innings on 127-4 after being put into bat.

Another opener in Archie O'Hara was also the mainstay of the Academy reply with 60 not out from 52 balls with one six and six fours.

But his side closed on 117-7 with Kinder returning the excellent figures of 1-10 from his four overs.

Haynes and Kinder also played key roles in the second match after the Academy opted to bat first.

Kinder exceeded his efforts in the first game with figures of 1-8 from four overs which included 17 dot balls.

Ben Herridge top-scored with 35 and there were useful runs from Adam Wiffenand Dan Holland at the end of the innings which closed on 133-3.

Haynes reverted to batting at number five but he was again effective with a whirlwind 45 off 20 balls with three sixes and four fours.

It helped the Under-17s to reach their target with four balls to spare despite an economical spell of four overs for 19 runs from paceman George Scrimshaw.
