HAYNES AND ENGLAND SUFFER SECOND DEFEAT IN THREE GAMES

Jack Haynes and England Under-19s suffered their second Tri-Series defeat in three games when they went down by 27 runs to Sri Lanka via the Duckworth Lewis Method at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound.

Worcestershire batsman Haynes went in at number four in the first meeting of the series with Sri Lanka after honours had been shared in the opening two games with the West Indies.

He made eight off 33 balls before he was third out with the total on 57 in the 22nd over.

Lewis Goldsworthy (34 not out) and Joey Evison (43 not out) lifted the final total to 149-4 from 45 overs.

The Sri Lankans were in trouble at 23-3 against England’s new ball attack of George Balderson and Blake Cullen.

But a fine knock by Ahan Wickramasinghe carried the Sri Lankans over the finishing line.

He ended unbeaten on 70 from 83 balls as Sri Lanka reached 143-4 in 37 overs to seal victory.
