Worcestershire Cricket Society have been forced into a late change to their winter programme of guest speakers in the most regrettable of circumstances.
Former Glamorgan paceman Malcolm Nash had been booked to be the Society’s guest speaker in March 2020 but sadly recently passed away.
But a worthwhile replacement has been found in former Worcestershire, Somerset and Derbyshire paceman Fred Rumsey who was the founder of the Professional Cricketers’ Association in 1967.
Rumsey has just published his autobiography ‘Sense Of Humour, Sense Of Justice’.
He will be accompanied by Stephen Chalke who has written and-or published several highly acclaimed biographical and historical cricket books.
Chalke is a past guest speaker of the Cricket Society and his collaboration with the late Geoffrey Howard ‘At the Heart of English Cricket’ won the 2002 Cricket Society Book Of The Year Award.
He has twice won Wisden Book Of The Year for his biographies of Bob Appleyard (2004) and Tom Cartwright (2008) and the Association Of Cricket Statisticians and Historians named him Statistician of the Year for 2015 for his contributions to the field of cricket history.
All meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month in the Graeme Hick Pavilion between October and March (7.30pm start).
