Worcestershire CCC Academy defeated a North Staffs South Cheshire League Development X1 by 65 runs in a 50 overs a side match at Checkley with Will Fraine and Freddie Wynn making significant contributions with bat and ball respectively.
Opener Fraine struck 90 in Worcestershire's total of 264-5 after they had been put into bat, sharing partnerships of 68 in 13 overs with Josh Haynes and 79 in 15 with Zen Malik.
Fraine was third out at 160 after striking 12 fours in his 115 ball knock and, after the loss of two more wickets in quick succession, Liam Smith and Billy Cox figured in a fine unbroken partnership.
They added 91 in 11 overs with Smith remaining unbeaten on 57 from 48 balls with eight fours and Cox 38 not out from 33 deliveries with four boundaries.
Smith immediately struck with the new ball in dismissing North Staffs opener Billy Coxon for a duck but it was Wynn, backed up by Josh Haynes, who did most of the damage.
Wynn returned 4-37 from nine overs and Haynes 2-35 in 10 overs as North Staffs were dismissed for 199 in 43.5 overs.
