Worcestershire Women’s Rapids pace bowler Amy Maund picked up FOUR wickets in an over – including a hat-trick – in the 56 run win over Warwickshire in the West Midlands Regional Cup at Kenilworth Wardens CC.
Maund’s amazing six ball burst came in her fifth over after Warwickshire had reached 34-1 in reply to the Rapids 175 all out in 47.4 overs.
She dismissed Sophie Buckton with the first delivery and then clean bowled Laura Smitten, Ffion Purviss and Sophie Grayson with the third, fourth and fifth balls.
Maund completed a quadruple wicket maiden and finished her opening spell with figures of 7-1-18-5.
It enabled her to complete a first five-for at senior level for the Rapids although two years ago for the Under-18s she had 7-18 against Staffordshire at Moddershall CC.
Maund was given excellent support by her new ball partner Charlotte Roberts (6-1-22-2) as Warwickshire were reduced to 43-7.
Flora Bertwhistle (7-1-29-1) and captain Clare Boycott (4.3-1-13-2) polished off the innings with Warwickshire dismissed for 119 in 29.3 overs.
It enabled the Rapids to complete back to back wins in the competition after defeating Cricket Wales in their opening game.
Boycott had earlier made a sizeable contribution with the bat in making 35 off 52 balls with six fours as she and Milly Home (37) put on 72 for the first wicket in 17.2 overs after being put into bat.
Debutant Rosie Ward (15) and Bryony Gillgrass (20) also made useful runs and then, Hannah Hardwick held the latter part of the innings together.
She made 29 off 37 balls with four fours before being last out.
