In Form Dolly Gearing Up For Champion County Clash

Brett D’Oliveira will become the fourth Worcestershire CCC player in the last four years to represent the MCC in the annual match against the Champion County when it gets underway in Barbados this evening (19.30 start).

The all-rounder will follow in the footsteps of opener Daryl Mitchell (2015) and then Joe Clarke and Ben Cox (2017) in participating in what has become the traditional curtain raiser to the new domestic season.

The four-day game will be played with the pink Dukes balls under floodlights at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.

It will mark a return to first class cricket for D’Oliveira for the first time since Worcestershire’s promotion-winning clinching win over Durham in the Specsavers County Championship last summer.

D’Oliveira, who was 26 last month, will be familiar with the surroundings for this prestigious fixture.

He played there only last week – along with man of the series Clarke – for the North in the opening two matches of the series against the South.

D’Oliveira also enjoyed a successful series as the North triumphed 2-1.

He put together scores of 43, 79 and 17 batting in the middle order and bowling figures of 1-48, 1-44 and 1-36.
