It's a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all members and supporters of Worcestershire CCC – and 2017 promises to be an exciting time on and off the pitch.
It is the beginning of a new era on the cricket front with Joe Leach leading the County for the first time as the new official captain.
He has spoken optimistically in recent months about next summer when Worcestershire will be attempting to regain their Division One status in the Specsavers County Championship.
The squad assembled by Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes won as many matches – six – as Division Two champions Essex.
Worcestershire will also be striving to build on reaching the quarter-finals of the 50 over competition for the first time since the competition was rebranded as the Royal London One-Day Cup.
And there is certain to be a determination to return to the previous success enjoyed in the NatWest T20 Blast – three quarter-finals in four years between 2012 and 2015 – which can only be boosted by the re-signing of New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner.
All the players and coaches would relish securing a first ever appearance at finals day in early September.
Off the field there is once again much to look forward to including the Olly Murs concert on June 25 – the biggest musical event to hit the city since Sir Elton John appeared at New Road in 2006.
There will also be another double helping of the Outdoor Cinema Experience – a massive success this year with 'The Lion King' and 'Finding Nemo' attracting a combined tally of 4,5000 spectators.
The County is increasingly becoming operational as a 365 days a year business.
But in the meantime everyone at Worcestershire County Cricket Club hopes you saviour and enjoy the festive season and New Year.
*A reminder that the Worcestershire CCC offices will reopen after the Xmas-New Year break on Tuesday, January 3 at 9am.
