Fell Says Young Squad Will Reap Benefits Of Battles Against Top Sides In Lv = Cc

Tom Fell says Worcestershire's crop of young players are "learning every single game" as they gear up for the finale of the battle to remain in Division One of the LV = County Championship.

And the County's current top run-scorer in the LV = CC believes the squad will reap the benefits in the long run of their experiences this season pitting their skills against the leading sides.

Worcestershire have a quarter of their 16 game programme remaining – starting with tomorrow's (Friday's) clash with Somerset at Taunton.

They are currently two points above second from bottom Sussex, who visit New Road next month, and five points ahead of Hampshire.

Fell said: "We knew at the start of the season it would be really tough and the objective was to stay up.

"There have been a lot of positives and we have competed in games against these good sides.

"What sets them apart from us is that they are able to nail it in that second, third, fourth innings which we haven't quite been able to do yet.

"But we are a young side, we are still learning, every single game we are learning and some of these defeats, in the long run, might be a good thing for us, just to basically learn from and make us better.

"There is a long way to go with this team hopefully with us being so young and experiences like this, playing against these top sides, can only be a good thing for us."
