Worcestershire Seconds had to endure a frustrating opening day in the Second Eleven Championship match with Yorkshire Seconds at Scarborough with play abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Umpires Paul Pollard and Ian Dixon called off proceedings for the day after a 2.30pm inspection with some wet patches on the outfield responsible.
Heavy rain had fallen on Monday but the weather was dry today and the two teams will try again tomorrow.
Tom Fell has linked up with the Seconds after being part of the squad originally selected for the Specsavers County Championship clash with Derbyshire at the 3aaa County Ground.
He joined up with the Seconds last night after the wash-out of the opening day of the game at Derby.
Fell has been playing on a regular basis for the Seconds during the past month after being given the all clear in his battle against cancer in the lymph nodes.
But it was a step forward in his progress to be recalled to the senior squad for the first time this season and he will be hoping a first appearance is next on the horizon.
Fell scored a century against Yorkshire in the opening County Championship match of last season at New Road.
George Rhodes will skipper the side who have won two of their opening three Championship matches and Joe Dodd will again keep wicket.
The Seconds produced one of their best performances of last season in the competition to defeat Yorkshire at Barnt Green.
