EX ENGLAND ALL-ROUNDER IS CRICKET SOCIETY GUEST SPEAKER

Former England all-rounder Chris Lewis will be the guest speaker when the Worcestershire Cricket Society tonight stage their first cricket evening of the winter in the Graeme Hick Pavilion, starting 7.30pm.

Lewis played in 32 Tests and 53 ODIS for England, helping them to reach the final of the ICC World Cup in 1992.

He had spells in county cricket with Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Surrey, with whom he won the Sunday League and Benson and Hedges Cup in successive years, before hanging up his spikes at the age of 30.

Lewis was then arrested in 2008 for importing cocaine and sentenced to 13 years in prison although he was released in 2015.

He will be discussing all aspects of his cricketing career and events during the first half of the evening before undergoing a Question And Answer Session.

Lewis will also have copies of his book ‘Crazy: My Road To Redemption’ available to buy during the evening and which he will happily sign.

The Cricket Society continues to attract new members at a healthy rate with 28 having joined since the Annual General Meeting at the end of April.

Already 163 of the existing 228 members have renewed for 2019-2020 membership, costing £15 single and £25 double.
