A fine knock from Reeve Evitts plus excellent bowling figures by Josh Baker and Joe Stanley helped Worcestershire Academy to defeat Herefordshire by 12 runs in a 50 over encounter at Old Hill CC.
Evitts came to the wicket at 57-3 at the dismissal of opener Rehaan Edavalath (23) and it soon 82-6 but he received fine support from Josh Dickenson and Freddie Fallows on his way to making 82 not out.
Dickenson (16) aided him in a seventh wicket partnership of 55 and then Fallows (11 not out) was his partner in an unbroken stand of 46 for the ninth wicket.
It enabled Worcestershire to total 205-8 with Evitts striking three sixes and five fours in his innings.
Herefordshire reached 60-0 in reply but then the wickets began to tumble after Ben Parker and Baker removed the openers within the space of five runs.
Baker (10-1-34-3) and Stanley (10-3-22-2) worked their way through the batting line-up to reduce Herefordshire to 131-8.
A ninth wicket stand of 56 put the game back in the balance but the Academy edged to victory after dismissing their opponents for 193 in 44 overs.
Fallows (3-40) and Parker (2-45) were the other wicket-takers.
