Worcestershire Cricket Society and Worcestershire Supporters’ Association have joined forces to organise a bonfire night to remember at New Road!
The two organisations have partly sponsored a fund raising event in aid of Worcestershire CCC starring top after dinner speaker, entertainer and comedian Bob “The Cat” Bevan MBE which will be held in the Graeme Hick Pavilion on Friday, November 5.
There will be no fireworks but plenty of sparkle and explosive entertainment from The Cat who is widely recognised as one of the best in the business in his field.
The Cricket Society and Supporters’ Association are sponsoring half of the costs and BBC Hereford-Worcester presenter, Dave Bradley will be Master Of Ceremonies and will take part in a Q and A with The Cat during the second half of the evening.
The event also includes a pie and chips meal and tickets are priced just £25 per person.
Tickets can be booked online by clicking here.
Cricket Society Secretary, Mike Hitchings, said: “It has been a challenging time for the club with COVID-19 and ourselves and the Supporters’ Association felt it would be a good idea to put together a fund-raising event in aid of the club we all love.”
Supporters’ Association Chairman, Andrew Jenkins, said: “I echo the sentiments of Mike and the Association are more than happy to play our part in this event to go alongside the other projects we are delighted to help fund for the club.”
The Cat has appeared with many top comedians from the past in Sir Ken Dodd, Eric Morecambe, Ronnie Corbett and Harry Secombe and present in Kevin Bridges, Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford and Al Murray to name but a few.
He has developed into an all-round comedian, presenter, interviewer and auctioneer suitable for any audience and was the first after dinner speaker to be honoured by HM The Queen with his MBE.
The Cat became only the second entertainer to be elected as President of a County Cricket Club when given the honour by Kent in 2013 (Sir Richard Stilgoe of Surrey is the only other show biz President).
He was also President of the National Sporting Club in 2014, is a Celebrity Ambassador for ‘Variety’’ – the global children’s charity – and a trustee of the Lord’s Taverners.
