the under-19s are in action at the county’s headquarters in the tri-series tournament which also involves bangladesh.
the young lions took on new zealand under-19s in the second ‘test’ in 2008 and honours ended even with the hosts scoring 402 and 246-7 declared and their opponents totalling 372 and 302.
in 2013 bangladesh under-19s were the opponents for a 50 over game and england triumphed by nine wickets, scoring 199-1 from 40.5 overs in reply to 198.
two years later australia under-19s, with graeme hick in charge, were the opponents and england chased down a total of 294-6 in 50 overs, winning by four wickets with two balls to spare.
the most recent visit by england under-19s was in 2017 when they went down to india under-19s in a ‘test’. england scored 284 and 241 and india replied with 292 and 330.
england are back in action at New Road tomorrow (monday) against bangladesh.
