England Cricketer, Katherine Brunt Bringing Cricket To Schools In Dudley

Worcestershire Cricket are delighted to announce the arrival of England Women’s fast bowler and Ashes winner, Katherine Brunt, who will be working in schools across the Dudley borough.  Katherine will be working mainly in a number of Primary and Secondary schools, supporting the delivery of school competitions and inspiring more girls and boys to start playing the game.  Katherine will also be attending a number of club training sessions in an attempt to encourage school children to join local cricket clubs.  This would not have been possible without the support of the Village Hotel in Dudley who are looking after Katherine after a long day of working in schools.

Katherine said “Darryl and his team at the Village are really looking after me, which makes it easy for me to really get in to the schools and clubs coaching.  I have been made to feel really welcome in Worcestershire and love being able to inspire and spend time with the next generation of club cricketers.”

Katherine joins the team of 3 full time Cricket Development Coaches who are introducing in excess of 14,000 school children to cricket across the year.

Andy Wheeler, Participation Officer, couldn’t speak highly enough of Katherine, saying “Katherine joined the team earlier in the month and has had a really positive impact to not only the children but also the school staff.  Dudley is a key area for us and we are keen to establish links with more schools in the borough in order to ensure more children take up cricket, Katherine is really helping us to achieve this goal.”

Katherine has so far supported at school competitions, delivered training sessions at Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social CC, Howley Grange Primary School, Perryfields High School, Cottwall End Primary School and Wollescote Primary School.
